Overview
This personal project was focused around improving my visual design and research skills. I designed a gamified app to help children overcome anxiety in medical environments after observing the sterile environment that many existing medical devices contribute to.
Solution
Leverage the advantages of therapeutic play with an engaging app that reduces the anxieties and uncertainties surrounding the medical environment.
Research shows that medical anxiety is a major issue among children, leading to treatment delays, poor health outcomes, and stress for both the children and their caregivers.

The Big Idea
Medical environments are stale and uninviting. This product is intended to reduce feelings of anxiety in children by combining an enjoyable activity with the practice of medication administration or exams.


Character Design — Connecting with a Younger Audience
In-app characters intend to further reduce anxieties about the medical environment through games, gamified tutorials on taking meditation, and therapeutic play through exams.

The Home page offers users the ability to customize their character and play games where they can earn points.
Users will be prompted to select how they are feeling each day they log onto the app. The profile page contains a calendar that allows users to track their emotional states and appointments.
