Overview
Our team was challenged to design, produce, and sell 16 units of a product at a pop-up shop.
From the beginning, we identified a common pain point: people attending large events often struggle to securely store their jackets, causing discomfort and inconvenience.
User Research
Survey
We sent out a survey to better understand our target customers and their behaviors.

Opportunity Gap
Unlike other folding jacket varieties, the Maddie Bag allows users to keep their belongings in the jacket pockets while they fold it into a bag and still maintain access to the pockets and the items within them through the bag's zipper.

Form Development
Ideation & Prototyping
Paper prototypes, mid-fidelity, and high-fidelity models informed the final look and functionality of our design.

User Testing
Instruction Manual
To assess if users were able to properly collapse our jacket into a purse, we conducted a usability testing study that analyzed what we needed to include in our instruction pamphlet.

Reflection
Throughout this project, my team leveraged each of our strengths to overcome tight deadlines to create a high quality outcome. I learned that good teamwork can enhance craftsmanship through proper timeline planning and delegation of responsibility. This project was unique in that we got to see the impact of our designs on real users after they purchased our product, which reinforced my understanding that good product design should involve users early and often.
